Height
169cm (5'6.5")

Curvy, muscular

first impressions

Visual: Kanade is average height and despite how she's generally drawn in canon, is meant to be notably physically powerful even among the Symphogear wielders (I'd consider this or her manga appearance a more accurate depiction of her build based on how her physical abilities are discussed in canon, slim but still very physically solid, as Symphogear tends to only draw muscle tone in specific shots where it's relevant due to the target audience). Her hair is canonically supposed to look like feathers and give the impression of her being a "big bird" to her smaller companions. The manga depicts her as having a wing tattoo on her left shoulderblade at one point, but she'd likely have to cover it up for work anyway.
Fashion: Kanade's main concern with clothes just seems to be whether they're comfortable, so within that she'll wear just about anything from sweaters and jeans to tube tops and booty shorts. If she can move in it, it's fair game. She also always carries Gungnir and Brisingamen, her weapons, on her person - Gungnir is the red pendant visible in most of her stock art, Brisingamen is a bangle with a stone set in it that looks like it contains fire.
Demeanour: Kanade is generally energetic, brash and very casual unless she has a reason to want to keep her distance from someone. In that case, she can become quite aggressive and doesn't often hold back on her words. While this version of her has sobered up a bit personality-wise compared to her main canon self, she still hasn't lost much of that energy and will often keep her deeper issues to herself or avoid people rather than discuss them.
Sound: Kanade's voice is on the deeper side of mid-range, and she tends to have a rather casual or rough tone. The manga describes her as "speaking like a dad" and she tends to talk in a very strong and confident manner, not typically letting her uncertainty make it through to her voice. An example of her singing voice can be found here.

info

Symphogear is set in an alternate history version of Earth where many of the wars fought coincided with struggles over ancient and powerful Relics, pieces of "heretical technology" which could offer great power if activated. The main canon is set sometime in the 2040s, after experiments with Relics opened a door across dimensions that allowed creatures called Noise to appear on Earth. Noise turned humans into carbon compounds on contact and couldn't be fought with conventional weaponry, leading a covert division of the Japanese government called Sector 2 to create Symphogears. These Relic-based weapons conferred incredible power on the wielder and could easily defeat Noise, but only the rare few who could synchronise with a specific Gear through song could wield it.
Kanade's researcher parents were killed by Noise when she was 14, and she was brought in by Sector 2 and tested for Symphogear compatibility due to her fervent desire for revenge against the Noise. After a near-death experience with LiNKER, a drug used to enhance synchronisation with a Gear but only safe at limited dosages, Kanade becomes the first wielder of the Gungnir Symphogear and spends several years fighting Noise alongside Tsubasa, wielder of Ame no Habakiri and her partner in the idol unit Zwei Wing. Over those years, her desire for revenge eases and becomes a desire to help others and encourage them to live their lives to the fullest, living her own the same way.
In the main canon timeline, Kanade dies two years prior to the events of the anime using her Swan Song to destroy a major incursion of Noise at a Zwei Wing concert. However, in Symphogear XDU an alternate world is shown where Tsubasa was the one to die at the concert that night and Kanade threw herself utterly into getting revenge for her, recklessly putting her life on the line in the belief that she had nothing left to live for but that. After the wielders from the main canon timeline come to her world, she's forced to come to terms with her feelings about Tsubasa's death and resolves to move forward and sing for herself and her fans once more, instead of just for revenge and battle.

abilities

Kanade is considered a remarkably powerful fighter even by wielder standards (which is saying something considering that any wielder with a melee weapon like Gungnir needs to keep themselves in extremely good fighting shape to use it effectively) and is highly skilled in the use of polearms, primarily spears given the nature of her Gear. Her fighting style is on the acrobatic side and involves enough leaps and aerials that it's safe to assume she's extremely agile to go along with that strength.
Kanade wields the Symphogear relic Gungnir and is again noted to be remarkably powerful and effective with it, and Symphogears themselves confer a huge upgrade to physical strength (such that most wielders won't even engage normal humans while wearing one because it'd be practically impossible not to kill them, and a regular Gear has been used to punch the cap off a mountain) and defense (shown to protect a human from orbital re-entry on the outside of a space shuttle). However, Kanade requires the LiNKER drug to use her Gear and extended combat will burn through it and potentially endanger her life if she continues beyond that limit. Due to her low synchronisation with her Gear, she's also near certain to die if she uses her Swan Song - a final attack that surpasses a Gear's limiters - unless she has other wielders with her to share the backlash (canon generally does this with 3 people at minimum, so she'd need two others to safely use it). The alternative is her second Relic, Brisingamen, which she can activate as an upgrade to her standard Gear. This is far more powerful than Gungnir on its own, but introduces its own potentially life-threatening complications that mean she can also only use the upgrade for a limited period.
